It is always hot and temperatures will rise closer in the next few days: various Italian regions are already experiencing record temperature values with 33 ° C in the shade in the Po Valley but the thermometer will rise again, even by 2-3 degrees. In the next few days it will be possible to record up to 35-36 ° C in the plains, in particular in the north in Sardinia: this is an anomaly of 12-13 ° C higher than the norm for the month. In fact, if in May the maximum temperatures normally oscillate around 22-23 ° C already a month before the summer solstice, they beat numerous absolute records, leading to the hottest month of May in Italian weather history.
The forecasts for the next few days are worthy of a complete summer bulletin, from the month of July.
The tense north-easterly winds that started blowing from Wednesday evening and are still active in the southern regions and part of the center-north, definitively close the eastern route announcing a progressive increase in pressure. Now the African anticyclone will no longer have rivals on the central Mediterranean and with the complicity of an Atlantic cavity it will further strengthen. Temperatures at very high altitudes, ranging from 25/26 ° C at 1500m, will rise from the Algerian hinterland towards the Iberian Peninsula where in the next few days they are expected to reach 40 ° C, then less scorching will also reach Italy.
The areas of our sector that will be most penalized by the heat will be more western. In the forefront the northwestern regions and Emilia Romagna, then the central Tyrrhenian regions, Umbria and Sardinia. It will also be very hot on the rest of the Peninsula, Puglia will be among the most penalized southern regions. Then a weekend awaits us with a further intensification of heat and maximum temperatures even locally above 35 ° C in some areas of the Po Valley, Puglia, Sardinia and the central Tyrrhenian regions.
Attention to the strong thunderstorms typical of the hot months with intense and localized rains and not infrequently accompanied by hailstorms.
