State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin closes the 131st theater season on June 6, 2022 on the birthday of the pleasant poet and publicist Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin and the Day of the Russian Language. On this day, the theater gives its audience a performance based on the work of Alexander Pushkin.
This year the choice fell on the famous poem “Poltava”, excerpts from which formed the basis of the program. The poem was written in 1828. This is a poetic chronicle of one of the state pages of the History of the Russian State – the victory of Russian troops under the command of Peter I in the Battle of Poltava in 1709 over the Swedes and Charles XII, and the events preceding the battle. The story is told by Pushkin visual destinies and deeds. The author ruthlessly reveals the insides of the Ukrainian hetman Mazepa, who went over to the side of the enemy and betrayed Russia and Peter I. At the same time, this is not only a story about war, it is also a story about tragic love.
On the birthday of the poet, the audience acquired the great poetic music of Pushkin’s lines, combined with real music – an old friend of the Russian Theater – the State Ensemble of Violinists “Virtuosos of Yakutia” will take part in the literary and musical evening.
