bus drivers wanted, a simulator set up to draw
To discover the profession of bus driver, a simulator has been installed in Ornano Park, at the Abbaye aux Dames de Caen, Friday May 20, 2022. The curious are invited to test it because the profession is recruiting: around fifty positions are to be filled at Keolis in Calvados and in Manche.
“It takes patience and a good reaction time, being commercial. And being patient”, repeats Richard Guesdon, trainer and recruitment officer at Transdev in the territory of the former Basse-Normandie. “There have been no accidents yet! Only a few problems at the roundabouts”, reassures the trainer. Installed in the Ornano park of the Abbaye aux Dames de Caen, all day, this Friday, May 20, 2022, the driving simulator welcomed around thirty curious people this morning. Ninety people registered for this day of discovery around the job of bus driver.
“It’s impressive ! You have to take into account the size”reacts Florian, 36 years old looking for a job. “I like to drive a lot and there, it’s not easy. You have to be aware of the place and the size of the vehicle. But it makes you think and then it apparently recruits”adds Nicolas, also looking for a job.
The profession of bus driver is actually recruiting, it is even in short supply, indicates the human resources manager of Keolis in the former Lower Normandy, Léa Lecerf.
There are about fifty positions on Keolis Caen mobility and a need for five positions in the Channel.

The objective of this day and therefore to inform and attract people trained in a profession that is sometimes scary, she explains: “We don’t have the right representation. We just think we’re going to drive, but there’s a whole commercial aspect. We think it’s too big, it’s going to put off some women. At Keolis, 35 to 40% of bus drivers are women!”
Present the CESR training center in Ifs on this day to explain the training because it will be in charge of it for more than three months. Training fully funded by the Normandy region. “Today, trained bus drivers, there are none on the market. You need a D license and a Fimo (Minimum Compulsory Initial Training). We pass the professional title CTCR (driver road public transport), a level 3 diploma, explains Angélique Marie, of the CESR of Ifs. To participate in the training, a series of tests will be carried out.
For the first session, which starts on August 29, 16 places are available. Others will follow. At the end of the three months and passing the exam, Keolis undertakes to recruit. Twenty full-time, 6-month fixed-term positions at Keolis Caen Mobilité and around thirty part-time fixed-term and fixed-term positions at the two Keolis Pays Normands and Bus vert subsidiaries.
Remuneration ranging from 1000 euros net per month for a 70% contract to 2051.21 euros gross for full-time.
On May 25, the CESR of Ifs is organizing a collective information session on this training for the profession of bus driver. To participate, call CESR on 02 31 35 36 60
