It begins with a knockout, the San Marino Baseball Poule Scudetto. In the first of the thirty matches on the calendar, the Italian Champions fell by 5-8 in front of Parmaclima, especially good at exploiting a second inning of 5 points. Vincente Contreras, loser Rienzo. Two home runs for San Marino, with Celli hitting a single-homer kilometer in 3rd and Pieternella sending her out by two points in 6th.

The Poule Scudetto matches, we recall, are played over the distance of 7 innings, with the Serravalle stadium which also hosted the first practice of the time trial, installed to control and speed up the various phases of the game.

THE CHRONICLE. Start with points conceded to 1st for both new pitchers of the two teams. Parmaclima goes 1-0 thanks to a valid internal by Joseph, who then arrives in third on the advances and scores on Sambucci’s sprint. San Marino impacts with Ustariz’s single that sends Angulo to the point, also on base after a valid.

The game looks pretty balanced, but the guests in 2nd place score five points and run away. Rienzo fills the bases with the low turn of the formation (base in Talevi, valid by Poma and base and Flisi), with the rebounding of Koutsoyanopulos that is worth the 2-1 but also the first out of the inning. After him here is Joseph’s single for 3-1 and Gonzalez’s hit that fills the bases. To change the game definitively is Astorri, who places the double on the left that brings home the three points of 6-1.

Quevedo enters and puts out the fire, with San Marino shortening in the lower part of the 3rd thanks to Federico Celli’s very long home run, a ball whose trajectory leaves no hope for the outsiders (2-6). On the 4th, however, after two quick outs, Parmaclima scores again. Gonzalez goes with the valid, Astorri follows him with another double and both are brought home by Mineo’s double (8-2).

San Marino is there, but at this point the gap is substantial. At 4th, Doriano Bindi’s men do not exploit a situation of two on base and zero out, while at 6th the recovery attempt is concrete. Ustariz touches a double, Leonora a single and on Batista’s rebound comes the third point (3-8). Not only that, because Ortwin Pieternella hits immediately after a two-point home run that is worth 5-8.

At the 7th and last inning, San Marino leads to beat the man of the possible equal. With two on base and two outs, however, Leonora fails in the enterprise and touches a grounder which produces a diamond elimination.

Parmaclima wins 8-5. Saturday at the “Cavalli” race 2 (16) and race 3 (20.30).
