ALL ANTWERP: “Twelve years ago I moved from Utrecht to here, chasing love” (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Susanne Adelaar (40) and Senna (1,5).
“Senna is now one and a half. He is a very cheerful man. He is always with me on Mondays. For the time being I am still at home and taking care of the children. We have four kids so that’s pretty tough. You better go to work. And so I’m going to do that. I will soon be working for the city of Antwerp as a social worker. I have always worked in the social sector. First in the Netherlands, then here in Belgium in youth care, in assistance. So I will stay in the social sector, but it will be something different.”
“Twelve years ago I moved from Utrecht to Antwerp. Chasing love. My husband is Flemish and he had bought a house here, so we stayed here. We have since bought another house together, but in the same neighbourhood, in the north of the city. Of I miss the Netherlands? Not at all. I think Antwerp is a very nice city. You have everything here, the mentality is nice here and the people of Antwerp are nice people.”
“What will this day bring us? We’re going to walk around a bit and he’ll have to go to sleep in a bit. Then I have a few hours of rust. Afterwards I’m going to pick up the other kids from school and it’s time again full bowl† Chances are we’ll come back to the park then. We come here several times a week, especially when the weather is nice. Then the children play in the fountains and it really bustles here. It’s like a little paradise here.”
