WTA Strasbourg semi-final predictions including Dodin vs Kerber
The WTA Strasbourg Open semi-final should be entertaining with two intriguing matches on the schedule. As always, here at LWOT, we’ll be providing our predictions for both semi-finals, but who will secure their spot in Saturday’s final?
WTA Strasbourg semi-final predictions
Karolina Pliskova vs. Kaja Juvan
Face-to-face: first meeting
Although Karolina Pliskova is the top seed this week, it didn’t seem very likely that she would make the last four after suffering three straight losses and only two wins for six losses. In fairness, the world No. 8 didn’t have the toughest draw, but that’s exactly what she needed to regain her confidence and get a few wins under her belt on her worst ever surface. In her quarter-final match against Maryna Zanevska, she was particularly impressive, twice rallying after a breakdown in the second set, as well as facing four set points, and still managing to win a victory in straight sets.
While on paper Kaja Juvan is a beatable semi-final opponent, being ranked just outside the world top 80, the Slovak has been in fine form this week, losing just a handful of matches in her three matches. , although against opposition, it would be expected. to beat. The 21-year-old is yet to make the WTA Finals and unfortunately for her, playing against Pliskova in the early rounds would have been a much better chance for her to beat the Czech. As things stand, Pliskova looks much better than she has in recent months with much more authority behind her shots and, at times, the serve feels like a real weapon. Expect Pliskova to be too much for the Slovak to handle.
Prediction: Pliskova in 2

Oceane Dodin versus Angelique Kerber
Face-to-face: first meeting
While we think that Angélique Kerber is at the end of her career, she is putting in place a few good weeks to rekindle the flame. That’s exactly what the German did this week. She arrived at the WTA Strasbourg Open after six consecutive defeats and now finds herself in the semi-finals. It must be said that the last two games have been difficult, but the 34-year-old still found a way against Sasnovich and Linette.
On the other side of the net, Dodin is hoping for his first WTA final in six years. The local favorite has had a great week so far with a fine win over Konjuh 7-5 in the final set of the first round and a very dominant performance against world No. 60 Golubic 6-3 6-0 in the quarters to which few people expected. .
Like the other semi-final, it’s probably because the Frenchwoman got Kerber at the wrong time. Like Pliskova, Kerber once she rolls can be hard to stop as she is very hard to break down with her consistency and depth. Expect Dodin to remain competitive for the most part, but seeing her make a final in her home country might be asking too much, although it’s undoubtedly a great chance.
Prediction: Kerber in 3
