Velvet – Europe – Budapest bakery is also one of the best in Europe
It published a European bakery photo on May 17 on World Baking Day a tabloid called the British Evening Standard. A company from Budapest also appears in the top ten.
Arán Bakery, which is based on a unique concept and operates two bakeries in the Hungarian capital, attracts customers with international pastries and breads made with Irish wild sourdough. The company is listed alongside high-end shops such as a boulangerie in Paris, an brioche shop in Athens and a Neapolitan cookie that has been in operation since 1837.
The first store of our domestic pride was opened in the summer of 2019 by a married couple. Although the pandemic presented them with an unexpected challenge after only a year, they managed to get through the closure in a really creative way, so much so that in 2021 another store was opened, now on the Buda side.
Its inclusion on the international top list is mainly due to its wide international selection, unique creations and unparalleled breads.

Aran means bread in Gaelic, which is why it was chosen as the name of a craft bakery inspired by Irish traditions. In the Jewish part of Budapest, a couple who have been working in Ireland for 10 years, Kinga and Attila, find a place where cuffins, soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls, and Friday cakes are waiting for customers. It’s not a place that specializes in Hungarian pastries, but it’s worth arriving early so you don’t run out of your favorite!
