Berlin (dpa) – The Berlin police are expecting the first DFB Cup final in front of spectators in three years to be as interested as before the Corona pandemic. A city-wide operational concept has been prepared for this, said a spokesman for the dpa authority on Thursday. A clear focus is on the separation of the two fan camps. On Saturday (8 p.m. / ARD and Sky) SC Freiburg and RB Leipzig meet in the probably sold-out Berlin Olympic Stadium. In the past two years, no spectators were allowed in the stadium due to the Corona measures.
RB Leipzig is planning its official fan festival from 2 p.m. on Hammarskjöldplatz at Messe Berlin near the stadium in the Westend. According to the information, the people of Freiburg will hold their festival on Breitscheidplatz in Charlottenburg. There will be a celebration from 11:00 a.m. According to the club, more than 27,000 SC fans are in Berlin.
According to the current status, the Berlin police are planning the entire operation on Saturday with 900 police officers. Forces from other federal states were requested to deal with the operational situation, said the spokesman. A task force from Göppingen (Baden-Württemberg) with around 120 task forces and a unit from Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt with around 90 forces will support the Berlin police.
