Salzburg University of Applied Sciences: Top spot for the wood technology and wood construction course in the CHE ranking
Salzburg/Puch/Kuchl (OTS) – The CHE ranking is the most comprehensive evaluation procedure for degree programs in the German-speaking area. The new ranking for the bachelor’s courses has now been presented and shows the excellent training quality in the course of studies in wood technology and timber construction on the Kuchl campus of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences.
Choosing the right degree is not an easy decision. An important guide to finding the degree you want is the established ranking of the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), which compares degree programs on the basis of student surveys and general information. In the recently presented ranking for 2022, the bachelor’s degree in wood technology and timber construction at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences was rated excellent.
Excellent judgment from the students’ point of view
Whether it’s the range of courses, practical relevance or the equipment: the around 180 bachelor’s students in the wood technology and timber construction course are currently above average with their studies. In comparison with other courses in the field of civil and environmental engineering in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the course ended up in the top group for almost every criterion; All criteria were rated as very good with the school grade.
With a grade of 1.5, the breadth of the range of courses and the possibilities for individual focus areas were particularly emphasized. The support provided by the teachers and the organization of the studies were rated at 1.4 and 1.3, respectively, and the reference to practice also landed in the top group with a grade of 1.3. The latter is particularly evident in the theses: almost two thirds of the graduates write their bachelor thesis together with a company.
“We combine a passion for wood as a raw material, perfect framework conditions for training and a high level of research expertise with a focus on sustainability. We are pleased that this passion on the Kuchl campus of the teachers and students has now also become clear in numbers,” says course director Alexander Petutschnigg, who is pleased about the positive result.
The most important assessment procedure for courses
The CHE university ranking compares the study programs in German-speaking countries and provides students and prospective students with a wide range of information. For the ranking, the various universities and selected courses are surveyed and assessments are obtained from students and graduates as well as teachers who are asked about various aspects of the course and the general conditions at the place of study.
