Parma goes to San Marino »Baseball.it
Parma Clima began its journey in the Poule Scudetto in the best possible way by conquering the field of San Marino 8-5. Protagonists of the evening Cesare Astorri (2 out of 3 with two doubles and 4 pbc), Noel Gonzalez (3 out of 3) and the newcomer Manuel Joseph (2 out of 4). Discrete contains the evidence of the pair of Dominican pitchers Montilla and Contreras who conceded two home runs to Celli and Pieternella but who managed to assault the powerful attack of the Italian champions by making 10 strikeouts overall.
THE CHRONICLE – The duel between rookies Andrè Rienzo and Emailin Montilla initially aired on the mound. San Marino had to give up the convalescent Epifano and fielded Angulo at the shortstop with Ferrini in second and Pulzetti in third base. The injured Leo Rodriguez is still absent in the Parma Clima with the consequent displacement of Gonzalez in third and with the debut of Joseph Timo as shortstop. In the outside line Flisi took his place on the left with Poma in the center and Koutsoyanopulos on the right.
The beginning saw the pitchers in slight difficulty. Rienzo conceded a point in the first inning by giving away two bases, suffering a single infield from Joseph and granting a sacrificial sprint to Astorri. Montilla opened with two consecutive strikeouts but then collected one-to-one hits from Angulo and Ustariz.
Parma Clima did not let themselves be intimidated and staged a second attack with four hits and five points thanks to singles by Poma, Joseph and Gonzalez and to the double with full bases by Astorri which also led to the replacement of Rienzo with Quevedo.
A cyclonic homerun from one point by Celli to the third inning rekindled the hopes of the hosts but the excellent evening of the ducal attack led to the realization of another two points in the fourth thanks to the consecutive hits of Gonzalez (single), Astorri ( double) and Mineo (double).
However, San Marino confirmed that they had an insidious attack and reopened the games in the sixth inning thanks to a three-point home run by the designated Pieternella. Contreras, who took over from Montilla in the fifth, faltered but did not yield: in the seventh inning he granted two free bases to Angulo and Ustariz but managed to close the match forcing Leonora to a harmless serve in diamond.
The other two races of the weekend will be played on Saturday at 16 (Italian pitchers) and at 20.30 (Community). Appointment at the Cavalli stadium in Parma.
