If Russia imposes counter-sanctions on road freight, the market will collapse
– The transport infrastructure of border crossings bordering Europe cannot realize the entire volume, for this reason, queues have formed that reach 5-7 days. If the government of the Russian Federation imposes restrictions on the movement of cars in Europe across Russia and makes it mandatory to reload or reload at border crossings, this will only aggravate the situation. The cork made of fur will increase, and the complexity of cargo clearance will be added. European transport companies will also charge additional fees for repackaging or reloading and vehicles while waiting for these procedures at the borders.
– And if Russia does not introduce counter-sanctions and European carriers will freely pass through the territory of Russia?
– From the stand of countermeasures on the part of Russia, Russian transport companies have been established, which are engaged in international transportation between Russia and the EU countries. Under the given conditions, they simply cannot operate their own vehicles for the transportation of goods from border crossings.
– what is the right decision – to introduce counter-sanctions on road freight transportation or not to introduce?
– We have decided that the response solutions involve the fleet only by a partial transport company. More than 80% of all cargo coming from Europe to Russia is sent to the Central region of the Russian Federation, this is an insignificant distance, so the cost of such services is high. Moreover, it arose because of the high supply.
– Who in the end won the situation?
– Double from Europe triple the cost due to lack of vehicles. At the moment, whether in transit through the Republic of Belarus or through Russia, only European companies have found themselves in a winning position.
– If Russia imposes counter-sanctions and closes the passage for auto carriers from the EU, what needs to be done to make the transition painless?
– In order to smoothly close the borders between Europe and Russia and switch to the transfer/transshipment scheme that operates in the Republic of Belarus, it is necessary to fully prepare and provide the infrastructure of border terminals, as well as simplify border clearance at the borders.
