/ VISUALIZATION / As the main link between the new modern railway station and the historic center of Brno, it will form the backbone of the new Trnitá district. The street will become a large area of the city with wide sidewalks, lots of greenery and mature trees. The details of the planned boulevard have now been presented by representatives of the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno. “There will be two-way cycle paths on each side of the street, the central lane will belong to trams,” outlined the city architect Michal Sedláček.

The boulevard is to combine all modes of transport with the main emphasis on pedestrians and cyclists. “It is one of the best solutions in terms of bike paths that they are preparing in Brno. As far as possible, it is a quality option. The green belt department, Michal Šindelář, a spokesman for the Brno Association on a bicycle, would also be completely ideal. According to him, this department is planned for the new city street and also for the Nové Zbrojovka project.

According to Sedláček, four rows of tree lines also have an irreplaceable place in the street profile.

The new park is to be established in the locality of the Brno Černovická sand pit. The winner of the competition was the team of landscape architect Radek Prokeš.

Architect Petr Hrůša appreciated the separate types of transport on the boulevard and also the middle tree alley. “Such is it only in Captain Jaroš’s Avenue in Brno,” he stated.

He considers it essential how this boulevard connects to the part below Petrov. “A suitable urban solution is the square. I consider the wrong option to be the boulevard right next to the town spa. A lot of the streets then had to be blinded, “he said. According to one of the advantages of the concept, the square was in the winning design of the urban competition Brněnská okružní třída and the new city parks, which they developed years ago.

Construction will begin in two years

Work is now continuing on the project documentation of the first stage of the boulevard. “The start of construction is planned for 2024. The costs have not yet been quantified due to the preparatory phase of the project,” Sedláček said.

Last week, Brno councilors set aside 1.7 million crowns for further preparatory work on the New Trnitá district project. “The money will go to the preparation of transport and technical studies. Thanks to them, I will get, for example, a transport model and capacity assessment of the prepared roads and their connection to the existing transport network, “said Filip Chvátal, Brno’s councilor for spatial planning and development.

According to Mayor Markéta Vaňková, the southern part of the city is one of the development sites where large-scale construction can be expected in the coming years. “It should provide housing and work for approximately 15,000 people, the biggest investment will be the construction of a new train station,” she said.

The city’s architect’s office has set fixed limits for construction in this location. There will be at least thirty percent housing and thirty percent greenery in each block. The construction is supported, for example, by Brňan Ondřej Balcárek. “Apartments are few and the demand is high. In addition, the neighborhood should grow in a relatively attractive location near the center. I believe that during the construction they will think about the problems of older construction, such as the lack of parking spaces, “said the young man.

The preparation of the new railway station in Brno is part of the modernization of the Brno railway junction. Currently, the elaboration of the plan continues, which determines according to the affiliation, especially the project and especially the operational sequence of partial stages. “At present, we assume that the reconstruction of the Brno hub as a whole will begin in 2028,” said Nela Friebová, a spokeswoman for the Railway Administration.
