A meeting of the State Committee for Public Order and Safety was held yesterday, Tuesday 17 May, in the Prefecture of Siena in which the issue of youth discomfort and preventive and contrasting actions. The meeting, chaired by the Prefect Maria Forte in the presence of the Public Prosecutor at the Juvenile Court of Florence Dr. Sangermano, follows the recent serious episodes of bullying involving 15-year-old girls.
“The problem concerns all the institutions and the entire civil society, starting with the school and the family, which obviously need to be supported in a more incisive way. The law enforcement activityin fact – explains the Prefecture in a note – it is not enough to stem such a worrying phenomenon that dangerously involves the new generations and that is present not only in Siena but now spreading throughout the country. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the tools of prevention, paying particular attention to the educational aspect “.
We must think about daring to support families, who sometimes hide not only economic but educational and cultural difficulties. Models that are in some ways questionable are often broadcast, projected on consumption, on easy earnings. At the end of the meeting, which was also attended by the provincial leaders of the police, the Municipality of Siena, the President of the Health Society, the Archdiocese and the Magistrate of the Contrade, the Prefect declared: “I am sure that Siena and the whole province are sufficient to react to serious episodes of bullying and vandalismbut it is necessary to intervene from a preventive point of view to support educational agencies, cultural and sports associations and the family, so that the children most in difficulty are captured in a virtuous circle and contribute to making them more aware of the future that awaits them “.
