Replayce gives a second life to your smartphones in Dijon
Breakdown, wear, breakage and planned obsolescence are unfortunately part of our daily lives. And this is done in particular with our mobile phones. But rather than changing equipment, the brand new shop Replay which opened this Monday, May 16 in Dijon, offers to replace your worn or damaged components. A way to combine ecology with savings, to find functional equipment quickly. Interview with its manager, Félix Maillotte.
What do you offer in your Replayce store in Dijon?
I mainly offer the repair of smartphones and tablets, as well as the purchase and sale of smartphones. In any case, whether older or younger people, everyone has smartphones today. So everyone can come to the store. There is no problem.
What prompted you to embark on this adventure?
I’ve always loved entrepreneurship and I didn’t really know what I wanted to do in life. And one day I worked for the repair of telephones. It’s a job that appeals to me the most. But I was not on my own. I therefore decided to take the plunge, in addition under franchise which allows me to benefit from support behind. I couldn’t find better.
Do you think that more and more people prefer to refurbish their laptop rather than buy a new one?
Yes, I think that the price increase in recent years on everything smartphone is a trigger. Now, when you see that you can reach €1,500 for a smartphone, it’s always better to have your own repaired than to buy another one. It can quickly get expensive. And for other cell phones, it’s good to give them a second life. Prices can really vary wildly between refurbished and new devices. You can go down to half price on some models.
There are a lot of models, can you fix them all?
Without any problem for all brands and all phones. The only concern we can have is obviously all that is buying car parts at the moment it is sometimes complicated. Otherwise, in absolute terms, everything can be repaired.
In terms of raw materials, there are precisely concerns at the global level, especially for smartphones. Is this an advantage or a disadvantage for you?
The two. The advantage is that indeed, people will be more driven to buy refurbished car smartphones at the moment, it’s rather complicated to have new models and for all brands. But at the same time, it’s also a disadvantage because for us parts are sometimes much harder to find. As a result, we have much less in stock.
You also offer the purchase of smartphones. Are there any conditions? Can everyone get to their old laptop?
The first condition is to be of legal age and to present an identity document. The other condition is that the phone is usable. For example, you cannot buy back a phone that its owner has not finished paying for, at the risk of it being blocked. Otherwise, there is no problem.
Do you also sell refurbished smartphones?
Indeed, all the phones that are repaired at Replayce in Dijon and in the brand’s other stores in France, are reconditioned and then resold in the network. So I can very well offer, for example, phones that come from Replayce in Montpellier and that I can sell in my shop. After, in any case, I know that it is a good service that has been provided and that the device has been perfectly reconditioned. There are iPhones, Haier, Oppo…etc. On all brands in stock.
What are your objectives in terms of turnover for this year?
For this first year, I saw a turnover of €145,000, which represents about three customers a day, knowing that I am open six days a week. Afterwards, it depends on the average basket.
