“For the year 2023, we chose the Czech Republic and Prague as the host city because it is a very interesting and vibrant radio market. Czech Radio is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the official launch of radio broadcasting, and this is a great opportunity to introduce the Czech audio industry to the rest of Europe, ”said Peter Niegel, CEO of Europe.
Traditional conference participants include public service media, commercial radio, and independent audio creators from around the world.
“Czech Radio, or its predecessor Radiojournal, was only the second broadcasting company after the BBC to officially broadcast on radio in Europe, and we are glad that the organizers of Radiodays Europe chose Prague also with regard to the significance of this anniversary. At the same time, it is an appreciation of Czech Radio’s very active approach in recent years within the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and within the European space in general, “added René Zavoral, CEO of Czech Radio.
The Radiodays Europe (RDE) conference was born in 2010 in response to the needs of the European broadcasting industry, both public and private, to meet and discuss new media challenges. The conference, which reaches more than 1,600 participants from 62 countries each year, aims to inspire, innovate and share cooperation in the radio and audio industries and to support program development and good radio journalism.
The first Radiodays Europe conference took place in Copenhagen and over the years has been hosted by a number of major European cities, such as Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna and Lisbon. Prague is the first city in the region of Central and Eastern Europe to welcome the participants of this conference.
The main organizer of the conference is the non-profit organization Radiodays Europe, which was founded by the Scandinavian public service broadcasters Sveriges Radio, the Danish broadcaster DR, NRK Radio and the Finnish YLE.
