Established in 2014, the Palazzo Spinelli Award for Restoration aims to offer recognition to the commitment of those who, in the course of their lives, have worked and still operate in the sectors of restoration activities And storage, from the management and enhancement of cultural heritage and of trainingfrom the research and development of new technologies he was born in transfer of specialized skills and competences in the protection and enhancement of our universal heritage, both nationally and internationally, whether they are organizations, institutions, companies, associations, restorers, teachers, experts. Greetings from Emanuele Amodei, President of Palazzo Spinelli Group, and the introduction to the award by the art historian Claudio Paolini, President of the Scientific Committee of the award, by the Director of the Unesco office in Florence Carlo Francini, of the archaeologist Andrea Camilli, Director of the Shipyard of Ancient Ships of Pisa and of the Wet Wood Restoration Center of the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Tuscany, and of the art historian Eleonora Pecchioli. “With this recognition –points out Emanuele Amodeipresident of the Palazzo Spinelli Institute-we want to represent the close link that unites the Florentine restoration with the manual skills of the restorer, bringing to the knowledge of the public the secret traditions that are hidden within the formal structure of a restoration activity: a world of traditions, cultures, ideologies, technologies, passions transposed within the symbolic multiplicity that characterizes the work object of the intervention“.
Recognition consists of traditional golden key, work of the students of the Institute from the design phase to its handcrafted realization, whose lily-shaped handle represents the historical symbol of Florence, seat of the Spinelli Institute.
