The starting shot has been fired. The first regional association dialogue of the German Athletics Association (DLV) took place in Hanover on Monday. With the new format, the association wants to improve cooperation with its member associations and develop a common mission statement.
For the DLV actions, Dr. Kristin Behrens, Senior Manager Sports Development, Elke Bartschat, Head National Coach for Young Talent and Lukas Luber, Manager Digital Processes & Project Management, attended the event in the Lower Saxony state capital. Twelve representatives of the state associations were represented in the “Akademie des Sports”.
Among other things, specific market research results on athletics were presented and discussed. Approaches to developing a DLV mission statement and strategic fields of action were also discussed. “We listen, record, reflect, but also formulate necessary changes,” said Kristin Behrens.
“We need a strong community”
“The regional dialogues are a great commitment of the DLV and offer us, the state associations, the opportunity to work on future-oriented topics,” said Viktoria Leu, Managing Director of the Lower Saxony Athletics Association, summarizing the kick-off event.
Dieter Voigt, Managing Director of the North Rhine Athletics Association, added: “The process we are in is an opportunity to further improve. We need a strong community from the DLV and the state associations. that’s why today’s event was the right way.”
The other regional association dialogues will take place on May 17th in Leipzig, May 30th in Ulm and June 1st in Frankfurt. The dialogues should in particular sharpen the understanding of roles and clarify responsibilities between DLV and state associations, at the same time a team feeling should be generated through mutual support.
