Bernhard Hippler celebrated his golden jubilee as a priest – University of Innsbruck
The former university pastor of Innsbruck and honorary senator of the University of Innsbruck Bernhard Hippler celebrated his golden jubilee as a priest on May 15th during a festive service in the Mariahilf parish church.
Bernhard Hippler Philosophy, theology, psychology and history at the Universities of Innsbruck and Munich. In May 1972 he was ordained a priest in Innsbruck and worked as a professor of religion at the Ursulinengymnasium in Innsbruck until he retired. In 1979 Bernhard Hippler was appointed chaplain at the University of Innsbruck by Bishop Paulus Rusch. As a result, Hippler reestablishes the Innsbruck University Community and the Catholic University Youth, which were dissolved in 1973 by the Bishops’ Conference.
Innsbruck model
The model of university pastoral work became nationally known as the so-called “Innsbruck model”. Hippler was a member of the Council of Priests, the Pastoral Council, representative of Tyrol in the ArGe of Austrian Councils of Priests and a delegate at the Innsbruck Diocesan Forum. With great commitment he campaigned for the preservation of the Bishop Paulus student home and was able to prevent its closure. On June 26, 2015, he was officially dismissed as a university chaplain at the Innsbruck universities. Msgr. Hippler holds the office of liaison pastor for several Catholic associations and has been pastor of the Innsbruck Cartell Association and CV.tirol for centuries.
