Associated Artists & Sportsmen: take part in a
This dialogue deserves to be developed because art and sport respond to both individual emancipation and collective cohesion. The 2024 Games can be a catalyst for bringing the two sectors closer together and accelerating the projects already undertaken by the partners. This rapprochement can in particular take the form of the involvement of sports partners in the cultural sphere and the involvement of cultural partners in the sports sphere.
The artistic residency, understood as a long period of inspiration, dialogue, research and creation in a sports environment, constitutes one of the methods of strengthening the dialogue between art and sport. Residence is not understood here as the provision of a place to live and work. It constitutes a time for research, creation and work in situ, without a dedicated space being automatically made available.
Associated Artists & Athletes aims to encourage and support the setting up of artistic residencies in the sports environment, in order to meet the following objectives:
Two calls for projects will be launched, respectively in 2022 and 2023, for the implementation of at least 12 residencies per call.
Each residence Associated Artists & Athletes federates three categories of partners : a cultural establishment deploying its activities mainly in Paris or in Seine-Saint-Denis (which carries the project), able to build and support the residence, designed with one or more artist-author, or an artistic team and an sports structure (club, place of practice, training or research dedicated to sport) located in Paris or in Seine-Saint-Denis.
Sports disciplines: The projects could relate to one or more sporting disciplines (Olympic and Paralympic in particular).
The artist (or artistic team)
can be immersed in the life of the sports structure and be inspired by it, accompanied throughout the residency by the cultural establishment.
The sports structure, involved in all stages of the project, will welcome the artist and promote both his integration and the creation of a close link with the sports community.
The residency can be counted in the fall of 2022, over a free period, consistent with the objectives of the project – and including the mediation times (presentation, meetings and exchanges) – and without exceeding 9 months. The time of presence in situ, which can be divided, will be fixed in consultation between all the partners concerned. It will take particular account of the sports calendar.
The works produced during the residency will remain the property of their authors.
The organization of a artistic rendition (diffusion), which could be intermediate, will be offered at the place of residence and/or in the cultural establishment or other place at the end of the time of presence in situ.
In addition, one or more restitutions making it possible to report on the residences could be programmed, in particular during the Cultural Festival linked to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024. In the event that a global restitution was disseminated by the City of Paris, the department of Seine-Saint-Denis and Paris 2024, the terms will be specified.
The residence will be subject to a qualitative and quantitative assessmentcoordinated by the cultural establishment, to which all the partners involved contribute.
Financial support from the City of Paris, the department of Seine-Saint-Denis and Paris 2024 for each residency project selected may not exceed €30,000 in total. The sums are paid in the form of a subsidy, the total of all public aid not being able to exceed 80% of the overall budget of the project.
For each residence project selected, what is the budget actually committed and the expenses incurred, the communities cannot be liable for any additional sum.
This call for projects is open to cultural establishments deploying their activities mainly in Paris or Seine-Saint-Denis, able to build and support a residence in a sports environment in Paris or Seine-Saint-Denis, who apply with a · an artist (or an artistic team). The artist (or the artistic team) has a professional career of at least 5 years and usually resides – or has a regular professional activity – in the Ile-de-France region.
A residence is reserved for an artist from the Overseas Territories (see box at the bottom of the page).
