Gastro theater from the jury member
The Rumor restaurant is a joint venture between chef Jenő Rácz and Károly Gerendai, the founder of the Costes Group. The first Hungarian restaurant of the popular jury member of the Hungarian television talent search cooking show, returning from abroad, awaits its guests with a unique “chef’s table” concept in the Hungarian restaurant menu.
Rumor is the first restaurant life in Budapest to put the chef in the center, which wants to influence not only the gastronomic senses of the guest. They are seated around the counter surrounding the show kitchen, accompanied by a dinner led by the chef, sommelier and the entire restaurant staff, building on a sense of community. According to its own definition, the restaurant calls dinner a theater house, and accordingly it displays the gastronomic experience with additional elements and gegs.

Rumor’s food offering represents the well-known, well-understood and identifiable, safe, classic fine dining style, sometimes with form-breaking serving. As a result of the tests and taking into account the unprecedented achievements of the Hungarian guest community in promoting the fine dining restaurant style, in 2022 the Audi – Dining Guide Restaurant Guide will recognize the Jenő Rumor By Rácz Restaurant with the Restaurant of the Year award.
New fee categories
The winners of the latest categories of the gala, including the new Dining Guide Restaurant Best Of The Best, were presented before the winner of the Restaurant of the Year award was announced.
The big novelty of this year’s Audi – Dining Guide Top 100 Restaurant Guide is that it creates a new category with Best Of The Best certification, similar to international practices. The Best of the Best award recognizes the exemplary quality of the units that have achieved the best ranking in their category in the Restaurant Guides of the previous years for at least three years. The Dining Guide’s Best of The Best ranking may be maintained by the restaurant as long as the unit’s professional management and unit location remain unchanged and its performance on tests is above 90 points. The Best Of The Best award-winning restaurant is ranked among the top 10 in its category.
– said Zoltán Herczeg, the publisher of the Dining Guide.
The first winner of the new category was the Stand Restaurant, which was the winner of the Restaurant of the Year award for the past three years and is based on the ingredients of the Hungarian gastronomic region, offering contemporary, modern plates of Hungarian culinary traditions with menus. The restaurant has also received international attention for its achievements in the Bocuse d’Or competitions.
In addition to the new award category, we will also find a new top 10 list in this year’s Restaurant Guide: This year, the publication will evaluate the development of Hungarian bar life in recent years in a separate chapter with a top 10 list and the Cocktail Bar of the Year award. The first Dining Guide Cocktail Bar of the Year was won by Black Swan Budapest.
