Again Sahara dust expected in Austria – Austria
In the coming week, people in Europe will have to adjust to Sahara dust again. The phenomenon will also be seen again in Austria, but not as strongly as in March.
According to the European Atmospheric Service Copernicus, people in Europe have to adjust to dust from the Sahara again. As the EU program announced on Monday, a large cloud of dust is currently moving west over the Atlantic. They should therefore already reach the Caribbean in the coming days. Foothills are also to be expected on the Iberian Peninsula and in parts of Western Europe next weekend, the statement said.
Quantities of Saharan dust in Austria as early as mid-March
The Atmosphere Service has already recorded high volumes of Saharan sand being transported across the Mediterranean and parts of Europe this year. That also continues. The phenomenon occurs several times a year and follows in Austria in mid-March with a yellowish-reddish discoloration of the sky and a layer of dust on cars and window panes. This time, however, the phenomenon should hardly be noticeable because of the much smaller amount in Austria.
