Several activists occupied a house in the city of Salzburg on Saturday that belonged to ex-ski star Marcel Hirscher.
As reported by ORF Salzburg, the activists had announced by email that they would set up the house this weekend. The building has been empty for a year and is occupied by the general public, i.e. representatives of the Riseup group.
Protest against vacancy
About ten squatters were in the property on Saturday, handing out leaflets and food and giving speeches. While more and more people are affected by homelessness, there is speculation about vacancies, so the accusation.
The police are on site and want to discuss how to proceed with an owner representative. According to the Salzburg police, there have been no incidents so far.
Hirscher is the owner
According to the land register, ex-ski star Marcel Hirscher acquired the building and 471 square meters of land in March 2021.
