It’s enough for the rich: “Can’t pay nanny anymore” – Austria
You learn to save from the rich. Or not, as the unworldly tips of a wealthy mother of three now show.
The wave of inflation is also clearly noticeable for wealthy families. Hedge fund manager Walter K. and his wife Jessica now want to tighten their belts significantly, as the interior designer and style consultant tells The Times. The Briton and the Upper Austrian live with their three children in a posh suburb of London. “I checked my account balance and thought – we spend a lot of money on frivolous things,” the 38-year-old explained to the magazine about her change of heart.
The mother of three now has to make relatively tough cuts, she reveals. “We will have to give up our nanny, who gets 47,000 euros a year. Instead, we are looking for an au pair for only 12,000 euros a year.” The expensive childcare currently only benefits her youngest son, who is three years old.
Audi has to give way to Tesla, Mama now irons herself
The increased petrol costs are now causing Jessica K. to put the brakes on costs. The family’s Audi A3 is to go, it is currently mainly used for going to school. “We would like to rent a Tesla. It’s cheaper and protects the environment.” But it will be particularly difficult when the well-off wife declares that she WILL now take care of the housework herself. So at least one task: She will iron herself!
Instead of regularly ordering an expensive vegetarian box, she wants to go shopping herself in the future. Not to the supermarket, but rather to the farmer’s market. “We spend the most money on food. In Austria, where my husband comes from, it’s more common to shop in discount supermarkets, it’s cheaper.”
The Austro-British couple recently moved from a three-room flat in a posh borough of London to a house with a garden on the outskirts of the city. The planned kitchen conversion must now also be cheaper, says Jennifer K. sadly. The expenses may not exceed 117,000 euros, she uses the savings pen radically.
Twitter shitstorm: “Thoughts and prayers for the family”
On Twitter, the 38-year-old was teased for her unworldly attitude. “My thoughts and prayers go to Jessica and her family at this difficult time,” writes one user, “my heart breaks,” someone adds. “Is that a parody?” asks another. “Damn, let’s start a GoFundme campaign for them,” laughs another. “Give up your Audi A3 and drive a Tesla. How will you survive?” on “Today”-The 38-year-old, who didn’t expect the shit storm, just let the request know: “Thank you, but please leave me alone.”
