Prague – Today, Pilsen footballers can become league champions again after four years. If in the penultimate 4th round of the superstructure group he wins over the newcomer Hradec Králové in his home asylum in Mladá Boleslav and the defender of the Slavia trophy loses points in Ostrava, the championship cup will go to the west of Bohemia. After Monday’s dismissal of coach Pavel Vrba, he will lead Sparta Michal Horňák against Slovakia. All three duels have a kick-off at 19:00.
On Sunday, Pilsen defeated Sparta 3-0 in the hit, and two laps before the end of the superstructure, they hold a two-point tip at Slavia at the top of the table. The West Bohemians are attacking their sixth championship title. Viktoria did not lose 20 consecutive matches in the league, but one of the two defeats in this highest competition suffered in August in Hradec.
“We don’t have a good balance with Hradec in this one. They play well and completely without pressure, which was reflected in their game. We are now very close to what we all dream of, and we don’t want Hradec to stop us,” said the Pilsen assistant. coach Pavel Horváth.
“Votroci” surprised at the beginning of the superstructure with a 4: 3 victory over Slavia and a 1: 1 draw at Sparta, but in the last round they lost in Ostrava and did not score after nine rounds. The Eastern Czechs are already sure of the final sixth place.
“Holidays are approaching, but we are on the scales in the title game, so the boys are focused. We perceive it. We have taken a point from Sparta, she has given up since then, we have turned Slavia, now Pilsen is waiting for us,” said assistant coach Stanislav Hejkal. The head coach of Hradec Miroslav Koubek and Victoria won the title in 2015, but subsequently finished in the club after a failure in the qualification of the Champions League.
Slavia has not lost in the last nine league matches with Ostrava and has not given up the fight for the fourth title in a row. “I don’t think everything has been decided yet, anything can happen in football. In recent years, we’ve gotten used to always going for the title, now we don’t have it in our hands anymore. We’ll go 100 percent.” stated the assistant of the Slavic coach Zdeněk Houštecký.
Miner will certainly take fifth place, yet he has great motivation. “The last home match in the best opponent, the best opponent, the football holiday. I believe that we will repeat the performance from the last mutual match in Ostrava in December, that it beats us just as well. I hope that we will go bravely,” said coach Tomáš Galásek.
Sparta did not win three of the last four rounds and after Sunday’s 0-0 loss in Pilsen, the club’s management recalled Vrba. Until the end of the season, she will be led by the current coach of the second-league “béčka” Michal Horňák, who has been training Letenské briefly three years ago.
“We definitely take all three other competitive matches of the season seriously. We want to win them and take them more seriously. We would also like the game to look a bit. Fortunately, the matches are going so fast that the players forget about previous failures,” Horňák said.
The people of Prague will certainly finish third, Slovácko fourth. The teams will compete again on May 18 in the final of the home cup. It was not played in the original term last Wednesday due to the ineligible terrain. “The league match will no longer affect the final position of both teams in the table, but it will not be a friend. It will be more from both sides of the preparation for the cup finals,” said Jan Palinek, assistant coach of Slovácko.
