Salzburg and Upper Austria are the most generous on Mother’s Day
Business
In a comparison of the federal states, the people of Salzburg spend the most on Mother’s Day gifts. This is reported by the trade association. In the Salzburg taverns, business should also be satisfactory, the rather cool weather helps, says the Salzburg host spokesman.
Statistically, every person in Salzburg spends 117 euros on Mother’s Day. Flowers, sweets and a visit to the tavern are the classics.
Cool weather: tavern instead of excursion
According to host spokesman Ernst Pühringer, all seats have already been reserved in some restaurants, but other inns still have tables free on Mother’s Day. After the dramatic slump in sales of the past two years, the host spokesman expects good business.
The weather could play into the hands of restaurateurs. “Cool weather brings people to the inns because it is too unsafe for walks or excursions. But it is also clear that the outdoor dining area will remain closed when the weather is cool, which means that sales will automatically be reduced,” says Ernst Pühringer.
Mother’s Day as big business
As in Salzburg, the daughters and sons in Upper Austria spend 117 on their mothers. According to the trade association, people from Burgenland and Lower Austria are the most economical, spending 50 euros each.
Seen throughout Austria, Mother’s Day is an absolute source of sales. The trade association expects a turnover of 240 million euros. For the flower trade, today is the second most important day after Valentine’s Day.
