Ukrainian mothers have to return to Kyiv for a job – Austria-News
Two Ukrainian mothers will travel back to the war zone. They are afraid of losing their job otherwise.
The war in Ukraine has been raging for more than two months now. Since then there has been a massive flight, many women, children and some men have now left the war zone for fear of Putin’s aggression. As has now become known, some even have to travel back to their home country.

Although Russia’s army continues to drop bombs on several cities and the situation is therefore far from safe, & two young Czech mothers return to Kyiv. Günther Salzger, head of the refugee quarters in St. Michael, tells the “Kleine Zeitung” that the women were announced this week by their employer that they would be back at work in the Ukrainian capital on May 9th. They would lose their jobs for that.
hoax?
The women received their money last month, but that could change now. “I think I have to go back to Kyiv with my children,” said one of the two women, who works as a civil servant in her home country.
The other lady, a teacher, also faces the difficult decision of whether to trust the writing. The authenticity of the letter cannot be fully confirmed. Even the Austrian Foreign Ministry does not know about this order and believes that there are always false reports in this area.
Municipality would have provided jobs for women
For Salzger, the message is incomprehensible: “She told me that a bomb fell 300 meters from her house in Kyiv – and now she is supposed to go to war with the children?”. Before that, the community of St. Michael had constantly tried to find jobs in Austria for the women.
The civil servant would have been offered a job at AT&S and the teacher could have started at the call school. Nevertheless, the mothers are concerned and prefer to return to their homeland. “They told me that they would return to Kyiv with their children,” says Salzger.
According to the Ukrainian honorary consul Friedrich Möstl, the letter, if it is genuine, shows Ukraine’s understanding of the war: “The country has to keep going and it also needs its key employees for this”. Other federal services and managers of state and semi-state companies are said to have been ordered to return.
