Lyon: chef Christian Têtedoie fulfills the dream of a sick child
Affected by a rare disease which prevents her from swallowing, Clara was able to realize one of her dreams thanks to the chef from Lyon, Christian Têtedoie.
A dream on the tip of your tongue
The girl dreamed of being able to feel a very particular taste : that of the macaroon. The Hospices Civils de Lyon and the association Le Collectif therefore sought a solution. “She dreamed of being able to taste a food again. I asked her if there was one in particular. She replied “a macaroon”. With the team from the pediatric intensive care unit of the HFME and my Vice-President Raymond Domenech, we were convinced that there was a solution”, Abdel Aissouthe President of the Collective.
“We had the idea of contacting the starred chef from Lyon, Christian Têtedoie. Clara wrote him a pretty, very moving letter. He accepted and promised to deliver something to the young girl for Christmas”he continues.
A flavored spray
No sooner said than done. The famous chef from Lyon, best worker in France in 1996, set to work to create a flavored spray with macaron flavor. The fine drops depositing on the tongue, make it possible to avoid the risk of swallowing. The idea is ingenious and effective. On December 24, Clara was able to taste the taste of the macaroon again. “The result is spectacular, it really feels like eating a macaron. Mr. Têtedoie also made two other sprays, one chocolate flavor, another strawberry flavor. Clara savored it, especially since it didn’t cause any problems with swallowing at home. That a starred chef would do this for Clara, it touched us a lot”named her aunt Nora.
The project goes further
From this beautiful story, was born a care project called “A macaron for Clara” emerged in January. A partnership between the HCL, Le Collectif and Christian Têtedoie which aims to create other sprays – but also other products – to enable other sick children, in intensive care and with eating disorders, to benefit from this experience. Decidedly, when solidarity mixes with talent, it gives something of good taste…
