There are still basins in Portugal with a much lower than average amount of water – Current Affairs
The storage averages for the month of April are in the Barlavento and Lima basins of 78.5% and 76.1%, respectively.
These two basins had the lowest amount of water at least since the end of the year.
According to the data, at the end of April there was also less water availability in the basins of Mira (40.4%), Cávado (44.9%), Ave (45.3%), Arade (51%), Sado (55.2%) and Douro (57.1%). These basins all went down in relation to the previous month.
The Oeste (59.7%), Tejo (59.8%), Guadiana (74.7% and Mondego (91.7%) basins had the highest levels of storage at the end of April.
Twelve of the 60 reservoirs monitored had, at the end of April, water availability above 80% of the total volume, while nine had values below 40%, according to the SNIRH.
On the day compared to the previous month in four Aprils, there was an increase in the volume stored and in the hydrographic basins one to the previous month in four months.
The April 2022 collection tables by watershed are lower than the April collection averages (1990/91 to 2020/21), except for the Mondego basin.
Each watershed may correspond to more than one reservoir.
