Toulouse: Aldegheri and Page-Relo discuss, a “5” tracked
Dorian Aldegheri will soon imitate his international partners by signing a new long-term lease with Stade Toulousain. Martin Page-Relo could stay at 9 as the club seek a beefy second line to bolster their pack.
We see more and more clearly on the workforce of Stade Toulouse for next season and in the medium term. After Julien Marchand (2028), Cyril Baille, François Cros, Antoine Dupont, Thomas Ramos (2027), Peato Mauvaka (2026), Richie Arnold (2025) and Sofiane Guitoune (2024), the reigning French champion is on the point to secure the services of Dorian Aldegheri (28 years old, 8 selections). As indicated by our colleagues from La Dépêche du Midi, the right pillar, at the end of the contract in June 2023, should continue the adventure in red and black for four additional seasons.
As for the players at the end of the contract, Maxime Médard (35 years old, 63 caps) has, as expected, made the decision to end his career on June 30 (see page 7). On the rear triangle, his departure had been anticipated with the recruitment of Ange Capuozzo, Melvyn Jaminet and Arthur Retière. Among the positions still at the heart of the news, on the side of Ernest-Wallon, we find that of scrum half. According to our information, Martin Page-Relo (23), aligned twelve times this season, could soon sign a new lease. Bound until June 30, 2022, the former Carcassonnais has provided services this season – twelve, in all competitions – and is discussing extensions with his leaders. In 9, Martin Page-Relo could thus continue to work as one of Antoine Dupont’s understudy, alongside Baptiste Germain.
For the rest, nothing has yet been decided: the Agenais Paul Graou (24) is strongly expected to be a rookie but his room has not yet been formalized; conversely, Alexi Bales (31), hired until June 2023, could be released this summer. Note that the versatility of Arthur Retière could be put to good use in this position.
Tekori and Arnold, weight starts
On the side of external recruitment, the red and black club, which wanted to give a facelift to its back lines, now intends to finalize the file of a number 5 with a strong physical dimension. With the upcoming departures of Joe Tekori (38 years old, 37 caps), future retiree from the field, and that of Rory Arnold (31 years old, 26 caps), probably in Japan, the Haut-Garonne pack will lose weight and virility . The club is therefore prospecting on the market for second-line right-handers, mainly abroad. We can expect to see heavy landing in the Pink City.
