the exhibition “Le Penne della Libertà” is open to the public
“The Feathers of Liberty”: the perfect correspondence between the symbols of the Alpine Corps and the Republic of San Marino – the “Penne Nere” symbol par excellence of the Alpine troops and the Penne (the Three Towers) of the Titan, together with Freedom – enclosed in the title of the exhibition which in fact it ranks among the first tributes to 93rd National Gathering of the Black Feathers that the next Titan will touch May 7.
Coins, medals, badges, stamps, memorabilia and documents enclosed in this temporary exhibition inside the Museum of Postage Stamps and Moneyheld at baptism and visited by Captains Regent Oscar Mina and Paolo Rondelli, to celebrate in addition to the upcoming Gathering, the 150th anniversary of the Corps“Much more – it was said – of an infantry specialty but synonymous with solidarity, sense of duty, spirit of service”.
A story that starts from the history of Sergeant Romolo Marchi: at the base of the project, in fact an effective one public-private synergythanks to the family material lent to the Museum by Prof. Andrea Cavicchinephew of the Friulian Alpine of the 8th Gemona Regiment, who fell in Russia and decorator of the Silver Medal for Military Valor in memory, in 1947.
On display, the philatelic issues that the Titan has dedicated over time to the Alpine troops and to the National Association that represents them and above all the Commemorative coin for the 93rd Gathering, released in 2020.
