103 bikers parade in Avignon in tribute to Eric Masson
Thursday May 5, 2022 is a sad anniversary: that of the death of Eric Masson. A year ago, this policeman who was carrying out a control in the context of drug trafficking in Avignon was shot twice. Since the emotion does not fall among the members of the police and the gendarmerie of the department. This Saturday, April 30 was the opportunity for the Avignonnais motorcycle club Lag Spirit MC City of the Popes to pay homage to their former friend and colleague. Indeed, this group of bikers is essentially composed of retired police officers and others still in exercise.
Family support
The convoy of 103 motorcycles left Carpentras. On their noisy cars, the bikers went to the police station in Avignon for a minute of silence. Ioul is the president of the motorcycle club. But this rally was also an opportunity to send a strong message to the family of the deceased police officer. “Each helmet, therefore each biker, participated in a kitty at the rate of 2 euros per person. The the policeman’s family was also present. Eric Masson’s father first spoke: “The pain cannot be shared. I’m sad and you’re sad, it doesn’t divide my pain. But knowing you’re there is still very important to us.” Eric Masson’s sister then thanked the bikers and colleagues present. Above all, she asked them “to be careful in private life as well as in the field”. A year later, the trauma is still there.
