Antwerp starts talks with captain Haroun

“I believe that I can still handle the level in the top players”, said Antwerp captain Haroun (36) last Sunday after the top match in Bruges. In fact, the midfielder was even the best man at the Great Old. That had not gone unnoticed by the sporting bosses at the Bosuil. They have to make an important decision in the weeks, because Haro’s contract will expire after 5.5 years.

Whether the sporting future of the Brussels resident – he will be 37 in September – remains to be seen at the Bosuil, although there are starting talks about an extra season with developments in a position within the club after his playing career.
“Negotiations are indeed underway, although I don’t want to go into too much detail at the moment,” said the captain. “I want our focus to go to the five games in the play-offs. Now that I’m back in the squad, I don’t carry myself any differently than before. For me, the club comes first. I’ve been passing on my experience to the young guests for a whole season and let them feel what the Antwerp DNA is all about. Of course, that works best with a role on the field.”
