Spring rally April 24, 2022
” Spes ultima dea ” is a Latin phrase that indicates to men the desire for hope for something better, a kind of particular consolation in the most difficult moments in earthly existence. Man has always entrusted himself to something superior, transcendental, to religion in its most interpretations and manifestations, thus binding himself to what is most appropriate to be considered sacred or divine. The first meeting of the current year of the Automobile Club San Marino, which took place on 24 us and just before the Easter holidays, wanted to signify and express the sentiment of hope, brotherhood, friendship and conviviality that, even among enthusiasts of the motor industry, it is always alive and current. Choosing the Franciscan Sanctuary of Chiusi Della Verna as the destination, the board of the Automobile Club San Marino, in the spring meeting, intended to reconcile the natural-landscape aspect of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines and the spirituality of the convent, particularly recurring themes in this period and so dear to the friar of Assisi who spent some time in meditation and prayer in the same Convent. The event was attended – despite the not exactly favorable weather conditions – about twenty cars with about 50 enthusiasts who crossed the winding Apennine roads where you can enjoy spectacular hilly landscapes. After arriving in Chiusi Della Verna, everyone was able to take advantage of a guided tour of the ancient and millenary Sanctuary, capturing moments of reflection, beauty and prayer. As is customary and to emphasize the convivial spirit, the participants in the gathering later entertained themselves in the historic restaurant of the Colonia Montana in San Marino, whose structure has been managed for some time by the Congregation of Serravalle. The excellent lunch with local products has allied the ranks of passionate San Marino motorists serenely fascinated by the place and the ideals of faith, love, solidarity and brotherhood that St. Francis of Assisi wanted to transmit to humanity. Greetings and thanks from the president of the San Marino Automobile Club, Avv. Lucio Daniele, to all participants and to Avv. Alvaro Selva – present at the convivial meeting representing the Congregation of Serravalle – concluded the beautiful event … the rain on the way back did not worry the participants and vehicles in the least. Ad maiora always.
