On Arbat Street in Moscow on April 28 at 12:00 a photo exhibition of the urban area “Orthodox cultural heritage of the Russian North” is allowed.
The exposition was created as part of the Arctic Council Boulevard project and will run until May 27, 2022, according to the organizers of the photo exhibition.
“Improvements of the spirit of people live and work in the Arctic. Oil and gas producers, metallurgists and geologists, builders, sailors, doctors, teachers… These are those who love the harsh beauty of the North and master the economic potential of this most powerful region. Even the most expected people need spiritual support. Many find it in Orthodoxy,” said the organizers of the exposition.
The Organizing Committee also recalled that Orthodoxy goes back to a huge role in the development of the Russian North. It was the first monasteries in this development that made it habitable, and it was the Orthodox monks who carried the light of civilization in this harsh region.
Today, there are more and more churches in the Arctic, and church communities and parishioners, as a rule, are multinational – these are Russians, Yakuts, Nenets, Karelians, Evenks, Chukchi, Khanty, Yukagirs, Dolgans. The northernmost diocese of Russia is Naryan-Mar.
