International Jazz Day in Pisa on 30 April 2022 Events in Pisa
It was November 2011 when the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day to promote the cultural and musical phenomenon of Jazz and its ability to unite people in all corners of the globe. It has therefore reached its tenth edition the International Jazz Day, which in the past years pandemic has always been celebrated also in Pisa, after the two-year stop imposed by the, returns to the city with two events organized by Pisa Jazz in collaboration with the Liceo Carducci and with the support of the Pisa Foundation. It is about two concerts, one in streaming and one livewhich will take place on Saturday 30 April at Circolo Exwide, the association promoting Pisa Jazz.
Let’s go at 16:30 The ‘Conduction Lab ‘of the Liceo Carducci of Pisa will perform in an exclusively visible concert live streaming on the social channels of Pisa Jazz and the school. This improvisational musical laboratory was born from a collaboration between Pisa Jazz and the Liceo Carducci that has been going on for three years now. The laboratory in 2022 was conducted by Silvia Bolognesi and Tony Cattanoand involved about 30 high school music students.
At 9:30 pm always at the Exwide Clubbut this time livewill perform on quartet ‘Play Ellington!’. Duke Ellington invented orchestral jazz and composed a fascinating and extraordinary. This ensemble is a tribute to the wonderful music of the Duke and his legend by four of the best protagonists of contemporary Italian jazz: Silvia Bolognesi (double bass and voice), Emanuele Parrini (violin), Tony Cattano (trombone) and Andrea Melani ( drums).
