Hannover 96: Team wants to fight for Christoph Dabrowski! Nevertheless, total chaos threatens – 2nd Bundesliga
You have EVERYTHING in your hands – or on your feet.
Three games before the end of the season, Hannover 96 is trembling before falling to relegation place 16. After the bankruptcy in Paderborn (0:3) they are still six points ahead of Dresden. Four points from the games on Friday (6:30 p.m.) against KSC, HSV (May 7) and Ingolstadt (May 15) are enough. Victory is likely to save the day.
The head of sports also knows. Marcus Mann (38) demands full concentration: “Now the only thing that counts is the game against Karlsruhe. Everything else must not distract us.”
The first rescue endgame – and man will at all costs avoid the need for a second or third.
All good or total chaos!
With a win today, 96 is as good as through. Then Dresden would have to win all the other games against Regensburg, in Karlsruhe and against Aue. That seems impossible, Dynamo has been without a win for 14 (!) games and has only had eight of 42 chances since mid-December. The Reds could be mathematically saved as early as tomorrow if Dresden does not win against Regensburg.
What gives hope: The team wants to fight for the coach. Recently there was tension between Christoph Dabrowski (43) and individual players. According to BILD information, the mood changed after 96 dealt with Dabro.
The professionals have sworn that they want to give the outgoing coach a clean finish. If that’s the case, then everything is fine.
But it can also be completely different…
Worst case: 96 loses and Dresden wins. Then the big tremors really start. Not excluded that the Reds get the big flutter, pull the emergency brake – and still fire Dabrowski. Spicy: His predecessor Jan Zimmermann was released in the first half of the season after the 4-0 loss in Karlsruhe.
Then they would need a new savior for two games. Or sports director Mann would have to sit on the bench for the last two games. Total chaos!
The exit deadline of desired trainer Stefan Leitl (44), which expires on Saturday, apparently plays no role. Despite contracts until 2023 in Fürth, he officially announced his early departure – and thus pulled the clause.
But Leitl only comes if 96 stays in the second division.
The Reds themselves have it on their toes.
