false alarm, someone had forgotten
79 operators of the Railway Police, assisted by the canine units of the Guardia di Finanza of Trieste, were engaged yesterday throughout the region on the fourth day of the extraordinary operation called “Safe Stations”.
18 regional railway stations inspected within 24 hours and over 700 people monitored
In Trieste, on board a train leaving for Vienna, the bomb squad of the State Police intervened during the morning, alerted by Polfer personnel due to the discovery of a suspicious backpack. The protocol envisaged in these cases involved, as a precaution, the movement of a convoy placed alongside the Trieste-Vienna. All this took a decision of minutes and was resolved, fortunately, without repercussions on railway traffic as the backpack is a piece of luggage forgotten on board by some distracted passenger.
In Udine, the Railway Police arrested and investigated three people for non-compliance with the roadmap and for crimes against property.
