An envelope of 7.5 billion Francs, non-refundable, granted to Senegal by Belgium.
Senegalese-Belgian cooperation is bearing fruit. A new milestone was set this Thursday, April 28, 2022 with the official launch of the “Climate-Sahel-Senegal component thematic portfolio” and the Program “Promotion of equitable access to quality medicines and vaccines”.
Through the Climate-Sahel Programme, Belgium intended to support Senegal’s efforts ”to improve the integrated management of natural resources and to sustainably restore the natural ecosystems of the Sahel in the fight against desertification and the negative consequences of climate change. ”, said the Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, Amadou Hott.
At this meeting, which saw the presence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Dakar, Hubert Roisin, the Minister welcomed this program, the fruit of Belgian cooperation, which benefits Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and Senegal. ”This program concerns an amount of 50 million euros (about 33 billion CFA francs) in donation. In this envelope, an amount of 11.5 million euros, or about 7.5 billion CFA francs, is granted to Senegal,” said Mr. Hott.
Regarding the program ”Promotion of equitable access to quality medicines and vaccines” provided ”Karaange garab yi” (in Wolof), it constitutes the 4th important pillar of our bilateral program 2019-2023, specified The Minister. The latter, speaking of this project which concerns an amount of 4 million euros, or approximately 2.6 billion CFA francs, considered it “very important, given its alignment with our objective of pharmaceutical sovereignty which autonomy in the production of quality medicines, vaccines and medical products”.
