Femicide near Toulouse: the husband killed his wife before killing himself
Three days after the discovery of the bodies of Kathryn and John Boyes, two Englishmen living in Boudrac, near Saint-Gaudens, the trail of feminicide followed by suicide is confirmed. The 64-year-old husband allegedly beat and strangled his 65-year-old wife, before hanging himself.
Kathryn Boyes, found dead in her house in Boudrac this Sunday, April 24, was the victim of femicide before her husband, John Boyes, killed himself by hanging. The autopsy carried out on Tuesday on the body of this 65-year-old English national confirmed the lead favored by investigators from the Saint Gaudens gendarmerie research brigade.
The day of the macabre discovery, the soldiers had got hold of a handwritten letter left at the crime scene. In this farewell text, John Boyes, 64, recounted his financial setbacks after the failure of a cottage rental project. In recent months, he and his wife had been over-indebted, which the husband would not have supported.
In all likelihood, John beat Kathryn, before strangling her, and this fatal attack would have taken place between Thursday and Sunday. The exact day of his death has not yet been revealed. Following this murder, the sexagenarian locked himself in an adjoining house to hang himself.
They fit in well
The bodies were only discovered on Sunday. English friends, who were worried about not having any more signs of life, visited them. They soon noticed Kathryn, lying on a couch with a bruised face and signs of strangulation. The body of her husband was only found in the middle of the afternoon by the gendarmes.
In Boudrac, the population is very shocked by this event. This expatriate couple had been living in France for at least 20 years. But the acquisition of their house is much more recent. They would have bought it last year. According to the neighborhood, John and his wife, originally from London, had settled in perfectly since their arrival. Her husband would even have participated in several events organized in the town, including a running race and pétanque competitions.
