Main prizes and sponsorship prizes with a focus on youth culture and youth research

Every year, the cultural fund of the city of Salzburg awards prizes for exceptional commitment and special achievements in the value of art & culture, science & research. With good reason, the focus for the awarding of the international main prizes and a sponsorship prize for both areas this year is on the topics of youth culture & youth art and youth research. Applications and nominations are possible until Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Current focus: By, for and with the next generation

In the field of art & culture, the focus is on artistic or cultural work that was created for the youth, with the youth or by the youth themselves and which has developed radiance in the sense of a young, contemporary Salzburg. In the field of science and research, the call for applications is aimed at scientific work that deals with the special conditions of the young phase of life or the factors for successful development or with the influence of the younger generation on society as a whole. Both prizes are endowed with 12,000 euros each.

In addition, a culture or science promotion prize (endowment 6,000 euros) will be awarded this year for projects with children and young people or for children and young people.

Salzburg Prize including sponsorship, sponsorship prizes for art and science

The traditional sponsorship awards for art & culture and science & research are not tied to the main topics. With an endowment of 6,000 euros each, targeted projects, initiatives and people are to be supported on their further path.

Under the title of Salzburg Prize, a prize of appreciation will again be awarded to a personality whose work has had a significant impact on areas of art & culture or science & research in the city of Salzburg. Since 2020, this award has been endowed with 10,000 euros and a further 4,000 euros for the granting of a patent.

Submission until May 19, 2022

The deadline for submitting proposals and applications is May 19, and the board of trustees of the Kulturfonds will award the award in the summer. The official award ceremony is planned for autumn 2022.
