Salzburg wants to perfect the championship title in front of their own audience
While table leaders Red Bull Salzburg had to rely on support last week in order to be crowned champions prematurely, in the home game against Wiener Austria they now have it in their own hands to celebrate the next championship win. You don’t want to miss this opportunity.

Five games before the end, leaders Red Bull Salzburg are on the verge of the next championship title. It would be the ninth championship win in a row for the success-spoiled Mozartstadters, who have dominated domestic events in the Bundesliga for years. Head coach Matthis Jaissle’s team has been at the top of the table since the first day of the game and, even after the points were halved, are still in the lead with a twelve-point lead over their closest pursuer, Sturm Graz. In the home game against Wiener Austria, they are now aiming for the freestyle and want to be crowned number one in Austria again in front of their own audience.

“In terms of content and tactics, the situation that we can bring the title back to Salzburg with a home win doesn’t matter at all. There’s nothing where we make adjustments. But of course it’s different emotionally. We can do it in front of our own fans and win the title on our own. We’re highly motivated against and want to crown the season on Sunday as well,” said coach Jaissle in the run-up to the game. Salzburg have been unbeaten in eleven games against Vienna’s “Violetten” and have celebrated ten wins in the process. In the current season, with 22 wins in 27 league games, the “Violet” set a record from the 1984/85 and 1985/86 seasons.
Jaissle warn against Austria
Although Austria couldn’t win in the last four games and recently suffered a defeat twice in a row, Jaissle warns about Manfred Schmid’s young squad: “We know that it won’t be a sure-fire success again. You could already see that in the last game that the Viennese are doing very well. They are by no means to be underestimated. But we also know that we’ll have the quality and the tools to beat them again on Sunday to be able to get a three-pointer at the end.”
The two youngsters Daouida Guindo (back) and Bryan Okoh (knee) will not be able to take part this time either due to injury. Albert Vallci and Sekou Koita have recently returned to the team but are not available either. Veteran Zlatko Junuzovic, who leaves the series champion in the summer after four years, is questionable due to calf problems. Goalkeeper Philipp Köhn will now refine the successful season in front of his own audience: “We are now in the hot phase of the championship. Last Sunday there was already a theoretical possibility of the title. If we can now finally fix it in our own stadium, that would be a huge success and our goal. But we are also preparing for this game like any other and are fully productive. If we win the title at the end, we’ll be happy together.”
