Leisure time – Frankfurt am Main – Higher energy costs Swimming pool operator company
Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) – The operators of Hessian swimming pools are also affected by the energy prices that have risen in the course of the Ukraine war. So far, however, the situation has had little effect on bathers. For example, there are no plans to adjust admission prices in Frankfurt, said the managing director of the Frankfurt baths, Boris Zielinski. The first outdoor pool in the Main metropolis will open at the end of next week: From May 1st, swimmers can swim their lengths in the heated outdoor pool in Hausen. Would lowering the water temperature be an option to save energy? “We’re looking at it, but according to the current status it’s not planned,” said Zielinski.
The higher prices are natural and are likely to cause grief, said a spokesman for Stadtwerke Gießen, which is responsible for several pools. They are trying to react to this and have increased the water temperature in two indoor pools by one degree. So far there have been no reports of freezing swimmers. In Fulda, the outdoor pool season begins on May 1st with the opening of the Rosenbad. In order to save energy, the water temperature in the three large pools is also to be lowered by one degree.
In Wiesbaden, the relevant contract conditions pay off: “So far, the energy prices have said”, Thomas Baum from the Mattiaqua municipal baths. Energy-related refurbishment measures have also been going on in the bathrooms for some time.
