Ten dozen for ten million crowns
The ten-ducat was issued in 1631 by the Ducal Mint in Jičín. “Currently, this is probably the most expensive piece of this auction. Not only does he have a very strong story, but his price is the fact that after Wallenstein’s assassination in 1634, Emperor Ferdinand II ordered. under threat of confiscation, all Wallenstein’s coins were melted down and the metal processed for the minting of imperial coins. Although the starting price is set at five million crowns, it is expected that it could climb up to ten million crowns, “ said the co-founder of the auction house Macho & Chlapovič Elizej Macho.
another rare piece is the Platinum Medal from 1826. It is a cabinet piece with a mirror gloss contrasting with the surface of high relief. It is the most beautiful known piece on the market minted in platinum and is therefore an extremely rare memorial to the coronation ceremony of Nicholas I. The starting price is almost 2.5 million CZK. Another Platinum Medal is rare on the occasion of the arrival of Catherine II. to the imperial throne on June 18, 1762, with a starting price of 1.95 million crowns.
The demand for numismatic items is increasing significantly
Test excavations will also provide significant space. These are coins, the adjacent minting was carried out on a test during the formation of the new monetary system according to several artistic designs as a basis for the selection of a suitable model and alloys.
The main part of the auction will last until the evening. In the following days, an electronic auction was created, where the auction hall acquired an extensive collection of Leopold I coins from a major collector who had been systematically building the collection for more than 40 years. The collection counts almost 700 coins of lower, but also very interesting denominations.
The demand for numismatic items is increasing significantly. Macho & Chlapovič assumes that the deteriorating security situation in Europe, together with inflation, will not cool down in 2022.
