ALL ANTWERP. “We learn to crochet and play guitar via YouTube” (Antwerp)
Every day our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a chat. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Sybren Packx (22) and Nette Lauriks (17).
Sybren: “We are taking a nice walk. We haven’t seen each other in a few weeks. I’m from Turnhout, Nette van Boom, so Antwerp is easily accessible. I mainly do volunteer work for the time being, in a horse riding school, at Natuurpunt,… I like to work outside, but it’s also to keep myself busy, because in September I’m going to study again.”
Nette: “I mainly try to be creative. I crochet and sew a lot. I mainly make clothes, for myself and for friends. Of everything actually. At a certain point I really had a list of what I had to make for everyone: hats, sweaters, skirts, tops,… My mom taught me how the sewing machine works and the rest I teach myself through videos on YouTube. Try and do. Then a lot of things fail, but it is nice to receive.”
Sybren: “I am learning to play the guitar, also via YouTube. That works pretty smoothly actually. A bit to itch somewhere. But what Nette makes is really beautiful. She’s very good at that, but I haven’t gotten anything yet.”
Nette: “Then I will make you a beautiful pink scarf.” (Yes)
