the commercial court of Toulouse validates the takeover of UnaBiz
The Toulouse commercial court has validated the name of UnaBiz as the buyer of Sigfox, the start-up specializing in the internet of things, heavily indebted. The 126 employees are retained. The future entity will not be relocated.
The Toulouse Commercial Court rendered its decision this Thursday, April 21, 2022 concerning the takeover of the Sigfox group. UnaBiz, the Singaporean operator of Sigfox, was chosen.
110 employees out of the 174 of the Sigfox company will be retained, the court said. 64 will be dismissed but some of them have already been resigned. The 16 employees of Sigfox France will also be maintained.
One of the conditions for the takeover: the future entity must be deployed in Toulouse and cannot be relocated.
UnaBiz’s offer was unanimous. Based in Singapore, this operator, created and managed by two French entrepreneurs, including a former Sigfox employee (Henri Bong), won over everyone: the commercial court, the CSE, employees and management.
The commercial court was awaiting validation from Bercy to confirm this choice. The Ministry of the Economy must issue the IEF authorization: Foreign Investments in France.
The director of Sigfox, Arnaud Tayac, welcomed this news.
The continuity of Sigfox’s services is therefore not only ensured, but will be accompanied by new ambitions. UnaBiz already being at the heart of the Sigfox ecosystem through its activities as a Sigfox operator in Singapore and Taiwan and as an IoT solutions provider, the transition should be quick and simple.
