Sweden is pumping in 17 billion / – to support the LHRC’s strategic plan, says Henga

The Swedish envoy said that the agreement came from the fact that the LHRC has been the relevant, leading organization and a watchdog for human rights in Tanzania.
“The signed agreement covers a core support for the remaining three years of the LHRC’s strategic plan 2019 to 2024, ie 2022 to 2024 with a total budget of 36 Msek (12msek / year) which corresponds to a total support under the current agreement from the embassy to 17 billion / – “, he said.
“The LHRC’s work and Swedish support have expanded a lot since then. Therefore, the current mission is to strive to strengthen the public and to promote, strengthen and protect human rights and good governance in Tanzania through legal, civic education and information. “
Anna thanked the Swedish government for its financial and technical contribution over the years and confirmed the LHRC’s commitment to deliver on its intended results and a just society in Tanzania.
Ritha Mchaki, Head of the LHRC’s Sustainability and Compliance, noted some of the strategic plans that will be in line with the support such as offering legal aid to subordinates as security guards who are employed by various companies.
“As part of the team, we are so honored. I am absolutely confident that this agreement will support the LHRC’s core business in line with the strategic plans,” she said.
“It is through various organizational initiatives or opinion formation that the atmosphere has changed to advocate capacity building in the media, gender-based violence without forgetting the media space, for example, one can clearly state that the LHRC has done a lot.”
