Opavský Czudek: Alibism must set aside, we must sell our experience

Sugar Mizzy April 21, 2022

Petra, Opava has two home quarterfinal duels with USK Prague and the result of 1: 1 was expected by few. Two winnings of Opava were expected…
Let’s admit that we expected to leave for retaliation in Prague with a 2: 0 lead. It is confirmed again that the playoffs are a different competition. In it, our four victories from the basic part are erased. The current form is taken. It must be admitted that USK came to us very well prepared as a good plan. We gave them a sniff and a belief that they could succeed with us. Already in the first match, they managed to withdraw our lead from twenty-six to six. He could be seen to believe. They had a quick rotation, a small squad game and a rotation with eight players. In the second match, he decided the first jump. It was clear that it was not enough just to fight, but that we also had to keep to the basics. And that is to be mentally prepared for the match. The beginning showed that this was not the case in our case. This is at the expense of not only the players but also the implementation team. Entering the match USK into the veins of a huge portion of energy. It cost us a lot of effort to find one that grew to fifteen points, to two points. Then it was also about physical strength, luck, bouncing balls, about some registration of the referee. The conclusion showed that we did not deserve to win.

Opava has long been adorned by the successful shooting of threes. On Sunday and Monday, he excelled at the troika, but USK Praha….
The opponents were extremely successful. In the first they gave sixteen, in the second one more, in a very good percentage. However, it must be admitted that a lot of threes were free, when we mismanaged the situation both in person and in the zone. so far, we have a lot of work to do before we leave for retaliation.

The first two matches have shown the need to eliminate West and Mangas, which is the key to half the success…
That’s right, both are crucial. West conducts great matches, Mangas is excellent in one on one. We have huge problems with it. But we must also pay attention to other young players who play without fear and shame and take heavy shots. They look like they’re playing the tenth playoff. They do not see any nervousness at all, they do not make mistakes in both defense and attack.

Vítkovský Dohnálek hit from the district to the league! He has already scored twenty goals this year

Keenan Gumbs was very visible on the Opava side in the first match, not so much in the second match, why?
It is true that the first match worked for him, but that was true for more players. In the second we were worried. Except for Cuba Shirina and Matty Markusson, they all burned down. We were tight, nervous, we weren’t even good physically. I don’t want to make excuses that there was a virus in the cabin and regeneration is not ideal. We are an older team than USK. But again, our experience should be visible, and it wasn’t there, which I’m sorry about.

How to get out of it? How to tune the team back to winning well-being?
We have reached two matches, now we have to need how we play it, how to prepare for it. We have a lot of questions in the attack, even more in the defense. We got ninety-nine points at home, and that’s unacceptable. If we want to succeed at Folimance, where USK believes even more, then we must change something.

Did you have to raise your voice a lot in preparation for the Prague revenge?
There was no raised voice, we just named the situation we were in. That by defeating we dig a tomb, which is still shallow, but can also be deeper. Neither the players nor the implementation team want to finish the competition in April and we don’t want to be there when the seventh team eliminates the second. We are now in a position to succeed at USK. We have to get together, we have some health problems there. Completed by Radim Klečka. We still have five people to play. Others must also take responsibility. We can’t leave it to one or two players. The whole team needs to show up. Alibism must be discarded and everyone must engage the hero’s name in the fight and help with defense and attack.

The positive of both home matches was the spectator visit. Do you agree?
Amazing atmosphere. Fifteen hundred spectators came twice in a row. After two years of playing in front of an empty auditorium, we are really enjoying it, we are all the more sorry that we did not give the spectators a second prize. I believe that we will meet even more times this year and we will enjoy the joy of victory again and we will be happy both in the demonstrated game and in the winnings. People need positives.

What about your lucky actor Ivan Trojan? He has always won Opava this year… Will he cheer for you in Prague?
Unfortunately, work will not allow him. He may be up for a while on Friday, but even though it’s played in Prague, he can’t arrive, but his family will come. It is good that he supports us in this way. We talk a lot about the basket together. I am glad that we have a fan in Prague as well.
