According to preliminary data, more than 5.4 thousand people who have fled the horrors of war in Ukraine have already found work in Lithuania.
This makes up one fifth of working-age people from Ukraine who came to Lithuania. Working Ukrainians have already paid more than a million euros in taxes to our country, according to the Ministry of Social Security and Labor (SADM).
“Our country is accepting war refugees to help them into the labor market as soon as possible. At present, every fifth adult Ukrainian already has a job. Two-thirds of them were helped to find a job and get a job in Lithuania by the Employment Service. Ukrainians working in our country’s budget have already added more than a million euros. I thank the employers who employ Ukrainians who have come to our country, and I invite you to continue registering vacancies with the Employment Service, ”says Monika Navickienė, Minister of Social Security and Labor.
“Since the beginning of the war, the interinstitutional efforts of the Center, a college from Ukraine working in the Employment Service, a consistent process of recruiting mediation has ensured the security of newcomers in Lithuania and smooth market entry throughout the country,” said Inga Balnanosienė.
Works and pays taxes in Lithuania

Works in almost all municipalities
Ukrainians are already working in 57 municipalities of the country in the 60s. Most of the employed are in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda and other major cities of the country. The number of people working in Druskininkai and Palanga resorts is increasing.
Most Ukrainians were employed as auxiliary workers, cleaners of offices, hotels and other establishments, cargo handlers, and packers. Among the skilled workers are mainly bakers, confectioners, tailors, cooks and teaching assistants. There are employed and nursing assistants, managers, teachers of English, Russian, mathematics, engineers, architects.
Looking for a variety of jobs
There are currently 8,724 Ukrainian jobseekers registered with the Employment Service, including 200 people of retirement age and 161 minors. Young people under the age of 29 make up one-fifth (22%) of those aged 30-49. persons – 63%, over 50 years – 15%. jobseekers through the Employment Service.
Ukrainians in Lithuania are looking for various jobs – both according to the acquired qualification and unskilled. The job search job is mostly sought. Many want to work as a salesman, packers, administrators, chefs, car drivers. The vast majority of those registered with the Employment Service have an education in economics, general practice nurse, cook, psychologist, and accountant.
