ICE: Pallestrang leaves Master Salzburg after twelve years – winter sports – ice hockey
17 players have already been secured for EC Red Bull Salzburg for the coming season (read here >>>), but one long-time defender will no longer be part of the squad: Alexander Pallestrang.
After twelve years, the 32-year-old is leaving the win2day ICE Hockey League champions at his own request.
The Vorarlberger and father of three would like to spend more time with his family and is therefore returning to the Ländle. But he’s not giving up his skates just yet.
The reason for his departure is understandable: “Our third child was born in January. So now there are five of us and it’s not getting any easier. So we decided to go together to Vorarlberg, where my wife and I come from.”
“But it was a very tough decision to leave here because it’s a very good place to play ice hockey,” says Pallestrang, who will be separated from his family during the playoff period.
Four-time ICE champion, with Salzburg 2019 in the CHL semifinals
“I came to Salzburg when I was 20 and was able to celebrate my first championship title back then. Retiring now with the fourth championship title in Salzburg is of course cool and I definitely don’t want to miss that,” says the ÖEHV team player.
In 2010 Pallestrang moved from the Black Wings Linz to the city of Mozart, where he stayed for twelve years and became champion of the current ICE Hockey League four times. In addition, the defender was also involved in all successes in the Champions Hockey League, including reaching the semi-finals in 2019.
Pallestrang played a total of 669 ICE games for the Red Bulls and collected 163 points. He has also played the five most postseason games of any selected or active player in the ICE Hockey League with 154 total playoff games.
“It was just 12 beautiful years”
The seasoned professional doesn’t want to stop playing ice hockey just yet. Where he is drawn to, he left open or has not yet decided.
“Palle” says thank you for the time on the Salzach: “So much has happened in this long time. In any case, I will always look back on that time with fond memories, of the fans, of the friendships I made in Salzburg. It was just twelve beautiful years.”
