Toulouse: this game helps you reduce your carbon footprint
On Tuesday April 19, workshops to raise awareness of the impact of the carbon footprint were offered to Toulouse residents by the Toulouse Métropole Development Council, at the Grand Hôtel d’Orléans, near Matabiau station.
“If you had to have only one object with you in 2050, what would it be? asks participants Pierre Lefevre, workshop leader 2 tons. This surprising question is addressed to the six volunteers who take part in this workshop organized in a hotel near the Matabiau train station in Toulouse.
A game adapted to the challenges of the Toulouse region
Originally imagined by a student from Centrale in collaboration with a student at Toulouse Business School, this tool raises awareness about reducing the carbon footprint. It is now developed in a version adapted to the Toulouse conurbation, by Codev. This name, two tonsrepresents what can be emitted by a person in 2050, according to the threshold established by the Paris climate agreements.
Immersion debate workshops in the near future
Six workshops divided into small groups gradually immersed the participants for an hour and a half towards this horizon of 2050. Among the public, men and women, between 30 and 60 years old, sensitive from near or far to the ecological transition. Alternating individual rounds and collective rounds, the goal is to reach this famous objective of two tons. “Our goal is to encourage people to act by showing them that they have room for manoeuvre,” explains Pierre Lefèvre, animator of the game and coordinator of Codev. After twenty minutes a flash news falls: the matches of the Stade Toulousain are scheduled at six o’clock in the morning in the summer months because of the heat. Calculated with Météo France, this scenario could happen within a few years.
An educational game open to all
Finally, the game is rather well received, many say they learned things while having fun. These workshops will be offered as training for Tisséo employees or school students. To reach a general public, Codev is open to any company, association or committee that retains the organizer of these parties.
